Bermuda Aviation Services

Rans to step down as BAS CEO

Leslie Rans is to step down from her position as chief executive officer of Bermuda Aviation Services Ltd at the end of the month, the company announced today.

In a filing with the Bermuda Stock Exchange, BAS said that Ms Rans will “take a leadership role with another Bermudian business”. She will continue as a newly appointed non-executive director of BAS, the company said.

Ms Rans declined to comment this morning when asked about her future plans.

David Pugh, chairman of the board of directors of BAS, said: “During her term as CEO, Ms Rans has implemented and executed the board’s strategic vision to restructure the business, improve shareholder value by applying a philosophy of fiscal prudence while streamlining processes, creating a sales-driven culture and employee accountability.”

Ms Rans said: “I am heartened by where the BAS Group sits right now. BAS is now poised to be more strategically nimble and well positioned to capitalise on operating efficiencies gained and to create opportunities for core business growth. The team is led by a very solid senior management team and a committed board of directors.”

BAS said that, in line with the group’s strategy to reduce corporate overhead, an executive committee of the board of directors has been formed to execute the responsibilities of the role of CEO.

The committee has direct oversight of the two operating pillars of the group, facilities management and information technology, the company said. The finance and accounting function will also report directly into this committee.

Mr Pugh said: “Ms Rans has developed and led a committed team, each of whom plays an integral role in the everyday running of the various BAS subsidiaries. The board expresses its appreciation to Ms Rans for her impressive service to the group as a driver for strategic change and repositioning. The board wishes Ms Rans success in her future endeavours.”
